Penalty for Incorrect responses: Incorrect responses recorded in the Objective Tests of the Mains and Preliminary exams will result in a penalty. A candidate will lose one-fourth of the marks allotted to an objective question if they answer it incorrectly. For instance, a false response to a question worth one mark will result in the deduction of 0.25 marks. If a candidate does not indicate a response to a question, there will not be any consequences.

IBPS PO Interview

Those who made it through the main exam are invited to a face-to-face interview, which is worth up to 100 points. In the interview, a candidate must receive a minimum of 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).

During the fifteen to twenty minute interview phase, a group of bank representatives interrogate the candidates about themselves, the banking industry, current events, general knowledge, etc. The applicants should arrive at the interview with the necessary paperwork, project confidence, and wear nice clothes.

The final merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in the main examination and interview. The final score is calculated by IBPS with weightage of marks given to the main examination and interview in the ratio of 80:20 respectively.

Final Score Calculation for IBPS PO Exam

The following considerations are taken into account for determining the final IBPS PO exam score:

  • The marks earned in the Tier-1 preliminary exam are only used to qualify for the Tier-2 main exam; they are not taken into account for determining the final result.
  • In order to be considered for final merit, candidates must individually qualify for Phase-2 and the interview.
  • The final merit list will be based on an 80:20 weighting (ratio) between the IBPS PO Main exam and the interview.
  • The final merit list for each category is based on the total score out of 100. The final candidates chosen are those with the highest merit ranking in each area.
